This story is part of the QCBJ’s annual Newsmakers edition. This year-end wrap-up by the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal’s staff includes some of the biggest stories we brought you during 2024. Each story also includes an update on the subject. Excerpts from the original stories as well as the new updates appeared in print in our Monday, Dec. 23 edition.

The initial story was published in May of 2024.

One of the biggest business stories of the year was the opening of the Iron Tee Golf entertainment facility at 6909 Iron Tee Way, near the TBK Bank Sports Complex in north Bettendorf.

The $35 million, 61,000-square-foot entertainment facility opened in May and features a golf driving range with 58 bays located on three levels and bars on every level. It also include a full-service restaurant that seats about 150 guests, a 10,000-square-foot arcade area, a second-floor lounge that can seat 150, and a ballroom on the third level.

Since that opening, Iron Tee has worked on “striving to refine our offerings and enhance our guest experience,” according to Ryan Hintze, CEO of Iron Tee Golf.

“Recently, we’ve embarked on reinventing our menu and cocktail selections, tailoring them more towards our Midwestern customer base,” he added.

Some of the changes include getting ready for the holiday season. Here are some of the recent updates:

  • Beer towers: The business has introduced a 100-ounce beer tower for parties and group gatherings. This has been a hit with the guests, Mr. Hintze said.
  • Iron Inferno Wing Challenge: Participants who conquer the challenge will have their photos displayed on a “Wall of Flame.” They also will win merchandise.
  • Retraining staff: “To elevate our customer service, we’re investing in extensive staff training, focusing on hospitality and efficiency,” said Mr. Hintze.
  • Reservation software and check-in process: The business is actively updating its reservation software and check-in processes to streamline guest experiences and reduce wait times.
