QC Success Fair will be Aug. 14 at NorthPark

A hiring event to help veterans and other Quad Citians find jobs, resources and educational opportunities is set for Aug. 14 in Davenport.

The Quad-Cities Success Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, at NorthPark Mall, 320 Kimberly Road. The event, presented by IowaWORKS, has free admission and is open to the public.

“This year this event is even more important to our community to help those affected by recent hardships,” said Rick Ernst, Davenport IowaWORKS operations manager. “We have a good mix of advanced manufacturing, business and healthcare oriented jobs as well as a diverse representation of local companies to provide a wide array of career options.”

IowaWORKS founded the Quad-Cities Success Fair seven years ago to provide hiring resources for veterans and their spouses.

“We are excited to help the community connect with employers and the needed resources to help people succeed in diverse careers,” said James Stout, Home Base Iowa coordinator and a veteran.  “We want to help those people that have recently been job displaced.”

Today, the Success Fair has grown to be one of the largest job fairs in eastern Iowa. The community event also has flourished through a partnership with the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) and Home Base Iowa.

“Veterans, military personnel and family members, will have the opportunity to have on-site interviews and network with some of the top employers in our region,” Shane Sawyer, veteran career planner said.

The IowaWORKS job center is located at 1801 E. Kimberly Road, Davenport. Job seekers can stop by to get assistance in their job searches, resume building, mock interviews and more.
