The Quad Cities Land Bank Authority (QCLBA) invites developers, contractors and community members to attend a "Vacant Spaces to Vibrant Places” workshop from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Riverfront Grille, 4619 34th St., Rock Island.
This workshop will focus on the importance of converting vacant properties into vibrant, productive living spaces. Topics of discussion will include:
- Introduction to the QCLBA program and its mission.
- Insights into the local housing market.
- Available properties for redevelopment.
- Ideas for infill housing projects.
- Strategies for developing vacant sites.
- Overview of financing tools for real estate development.
“The goal of this workshop is to emphasize the need for diverse housing options across our cities,” Silvis City Administrator Jerry Leibovitz said in a news release.
Moline’s Community Development Director Chris Mathias added, “This workshop will provide an
opportunity to answer questions and build relationships between investors and local building and zoning officials, which will be invaluable when a renovation or new infill housing project is ready to move forward.”
Mary Chappell, the QCLBA’s program coordinator, said the first-time event “highlights the commitment of the QCLBA municipal partners to address the challenges of transforming vacant and abandoned properties. The content underscores the importance of collaborating with all stakeholders in revitalizing and strengthening our neighborhoods and communities.”
