The third annual Be Ready QC Emergency Fair will be held noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Quad Cities Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf.
The event has free admission.
The emergency fair is a family-friendly event focused on educating the public on how to be ready for an emergency or disaster. The event will include prize give-aways, information booths, hands-on training and more.
Some of the features will include educational booths and activities from the Scott County and Rock Island County emergency management agencies, Medical Reserve Corps, Scott County Emergency Communications Center and others.
“The goal of the fair is to make our community more resilient in the face of disasters and emergency events,” said Brian Payne, Scott County EMA director.
A new demonstration piece this year is the Eldridge Police Department’s Seat Belt Convincer, a device that simulates a low-impact collision to show the participant the value of wearing a seat-belt.
Additionally, attendees will be able to experience the Blank Children’s Hospital Fire Safety House, another new addition for 2025; the Police Virtual Reality Simulator, and view a bomb squad robot demonstration.
More than 30 entities will provide information on a variety of disaster related topics ranging from mental health concerns to working with your insurance company.
Attendees also will be able to grab a bite to eat at the Smokin Goodness food truck (food available for purchase), take part in learning sessions featuring Hands-Only CPR and Stop the Bleed, and sign up for preparedness-related door prizes.
The fair is sponsored by CAER (Community Awareness and Emergency Response) group, Constellation, and Enviromark, with support from numerous community partners.
