Local students may now apply for more than 70 scholarship opportunities again totaling over $500,000 through the Quad Cities Community Foundation.

Scholarships are available for high school seniors as well as those who have already  graduated, according to a news release from the foundation. Students continuing their  education at trade and technical schools, community colleges and four-year institutions are all eligible, no matter a student’s age or situation.

“Our donors care deeply about education and supporting students of all ages in our community,” said Sue Hafkemeyer, Community Foundation president and CEO, in the release. “We’re honored to support their generosity and help bring these opportunities to local students.”

The deadline for applications is Thursday, Feb. 15, but students are strongly encouraged to apply early. Recipients will be announced in May.

“If our students are receiving support and thriving, it leads to a stronger community,” said  Kelly Thompson, vice president of grantmaking and community initiatives, in the release. “These scholarships are helping students today, and they are an investment in the future of the Quad Cities.”
