LECLAIRE – A new Fareway grocery store in this community will open for business on Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The full-service grocery store, at 1301 Eagle Ridge Road, will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 5 p.m. today, Aug. 29, and the store will be open for business at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30.
The store hours will be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays. Fareway stores are closed on Sundays.
“Our grand opening is still a couple of days away, but we have already begun taking online orders that can be picked up when we open this Wednesday,” according to an announcement posted Monday, Aug. 28, on Fareway’s Facebook page for its LeClaire store.
The Facebook page outlines much of the progress being made on the store, and some of the specials being offered to customers.
The new Fareway store site is the home of the former Slagle Foods store, which closed in 2019.
When the Fareway project was announced last year, the Boone, Iowa-based grocery company released these details on the new store:
- The store is a more than $4 million investment.
- It is expected to employ about 60 workers, including about 15 full-time employees.
- The grocery will occupy just over 18,000 square feet of the retail space.
- It will include a full-service bakery and meat market. Also, the location will offer FastLanes – a self-service checkout option, as well as online shopping and curbside pick-up, available through Shop.Fareway.com.
- The city described the project as a “full remodel and reconstruction of grocery space.”
