The National Congress of Old West Shootists (NCOWS) Convention will bring the old West to life once again at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Davenport on Friday through Sunday, March 21-23.The event is open to the public. People do not need to be an NCOWS member to attend. A one-day pass – payable at the door for $5 – grants access to the show, sale and all seminars that day.The convention offers a lineup of events for history enthusiasts, reenactors, and cowboy action shooting fans, including:
Old West Gambling – Learn how to play Faro, 2-3 p.m. Friday.
Confederate Sidearms – 3:30-4:30 p.m. Friday.
Tintype Photography – Learn about the original process and get your picture taken, 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday.
Reloading for the Long-Range Buffalo Gun – A how-to for shooting enthusiasts, 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday.
History of the Rock Island Arsenal – 2-3 p.m. Saturday.
Life and Times of Wild Bill Hickok – Bring the kids to meet Wild Bill himself and hear about his adventures, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Saturday.
