CAMANCHE, Iowa – Naeve Family Beef – the meat processing facility that opened for business this summer – is getting ready to open a retail store at the plant here.Named the Meat & Greet, the store is set to have a soft opening Thursday, Oct. 13, in the Naeve Family Beef building located at 1902 7th Ave.The scheduled hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, according to Naeve’s Facebook page.Andrew Naeve, president of Naeve Family Beef, looks over the retail shop at the facility in Camanche, Iowa. The retail store will officially open on Thursday, Oct. 13. CREDIT DAVE THOMPSONThere also will be a grand opening ceremony for the new retail shop that has not been scheduled yet. It will likely be held in late October or early November, said Andrew Naeve, president of Naeve Family Beef.“There has been a lot of buzz in town about this place. Everybody is really excited about it,” said Mark McGowan, the retail shop manager.Mr. McGowan added that even though the official opening date is Oct. 13, many people in the Camanche and Clinton area have already been inside the shop to do business. The retail side of the meat processing facility has been open as a pick-up spot for online sales orders. Plus, the business has been welcoming walk-in customers who stop by to look around and buy meat products.In addition to the many beef products offered by Naeve Family Beef – from cattle raised in Andover – the retail store will offer a variety of locally-made products. Some will include: clothing from the Adcraft Printwear company in Clinton; honey from D&W Apiary in Clinton; horseradish mayo and mustard spread from Yaeger’s; honey BBQ sauce, also from Yaeger’s; and locally-made candles.But the best-seller items, so far, continue to be meat products, such as beef jerky.“People really like the jerky. We’ve been selling a ton of that,” Mr. McGowan said.But there will be much more offered at the retail shop.
