MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine County Area Habitat for Humanity will dedicate its 15th Habitat home during a ceremony at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17.

The home dedication ceremony will be held at 1246 E. 5th St., bringing together the Habitat board members, volunteers, donors, community partners, and supporters to celebrate the new home’s completion and the family who will soon make it their own. The event will highlight the power of community collaboration and the lasting impact of affordable homeownership.

“This dedication is way more than handing over a key and wishing the family well,” said Lisa Heckman, the 2026 president of Muscatine County Habitat for Humanity. “This dedication is a celebration of the power of partnership, and what is possible when a community comes together.”

The homeowner, Nicole Fulton and her family, partnered with Habitat for Humanity throughout the construction process, contributing “sweat equity” hours by helping build their own home and the homes of others. As with all Habitat homes, the family will purchase the home with an affordable mortgage designed to ensure long-term financial stability.

The Habitat home was only possible because of the Habitat members who gave their time and dedication, the city and community leaders that dedicated to affordable housing, the businesses and companies that brought their teams in every Friday to build this home, according to information from Muscatine Area Habitat for Humanity.

Since its founding, the Habitat chapter has worked to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. The organization continues to address the need for affordable housing while strengthening neighborhoods and empowering families through homeownership.
