The City of Moline and its partners at Blue Strike Environmental are seeking residents’ input to inform the city as it develops its new Environmental Resiliency Plan (ERP), based in Monterey, California.
That framework will help the city identify environmental challenges. It will help Molone make data-driven decisions to protect its infrastructure and economy, city leaders said in a news release.
“Moline is grounding our resiliency strategy in both data and community values to create a roadmap that is ambitious and achievable,” Public Works Director Denver Schmitt said.
“For this plan to succeed, it must reflect the lived experience of our residents. Whether you are concerned about flooding, utility costs, or ensuring our infrastructure can withstand a changing climate, we need your voice at the table.”
How to share your input
Community input is central to the ERP. Residents can participate in the following ways:
- Take the Survey: The brief, four-question survey rakes less than three minutes to complete. It closes on Monday, Feb. 9th. Share your feedback here.
- Community Engagement Session: This in-person workshop to discuss the plan is at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the Moline Public Library, 3210 41st St.
- Student Logo Design Contest: To engage the next generation, the city held a logo design contest for Moline-Coal Valley School District art students.
City leaders said they are grateful for the many creative and beautiful designs submitted by local students. The winning design will serve as the ERP logo. It was created by Lana R., a freshman at Moline High School.
