A new public art maintenance program launched by the Moline Public Art Commission is designed to provide financial assistance for rehabilitating existing public artwork within the city.
The program aims to preserve and maintain the city’s vibrant collection of public art, ensuring it is properly maintained, accessible, and enjoyed by residents and visitors alike, the city said in a news release.
The Public Art Maintenance Program offers matching reimbursement grants for the rehabilitation of public artwork. Property owners or organizations are invited to apply for financial assistance to cover eligible costs associated with the restoration or repair of artwork that is visible and accessible to the public, the release said.
Key program details include:
- Annual program budget is $5,000.
- Grants are offered on a reimbursement basis.
- Art must be accessible to the public for at least 40 hours per week, and projects must be in public locations to qualify.
- Eligible forms of art include sculpture, painting, installations, photography, video, light or sound works, and other projects that align with the Public Art Commission’s mission.
Timeline:
- Applications are open now through Oct. 31.
- Projects will be represented on Nov. 18 meeting.
- Winners will be notified in December
