Memorial Day services set in Bettendorf

Memorial Day services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, May 26, at Bettendorf’s Veterans Memorial, located inside Veterans Memorial Park at 1645 23rd St.

This year’s scheduled guest speaker is U.S. Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa. Remarks  also will be made by Russ Septer, commander of American Legion Post No. 154, and Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher.

The ceremony is open to the public.

Located inside Veterans Memorial Park, Bettendorf’s Veterans Memorial is a lasting tribute to those in the community who have served our country or who are on active duty. The design features two pentagons that surround the American flag. The inner ring represents the five branches of service and the outer pillars of black granite have the names of hundreds of service men and women.
