LULAC awards scholarships to 32 students

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council 10 has announced its 2025-2026 scholarship recipients who will be awarded $500 to $2,000 each. The 32 students live within a 50-mile radius of the Quad Cities. 

The group will be honored at the LULAC Scholarship Banquet. It’s from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the LULAC Center in Davenport.

This year’s scholarship recipients are: Alejandra Herrera, Alyssa Layer, Amaya McNeal, Anamaria Chavez, Briana Cabrera, Damian Alba, David Moreno, Devan Riberdy, Eric Newton, Ezquiel Jr. Alvarado, Gabriella Bazaldua, Gerald Callahan, Grace Ludwig, Ian Smiddy, Jacob Arguello, James Lang, Jaylissa Ramey-Sedam, Jimena Sanchez, Juanita Lopez, Kasadie Jergens, Keira Davison, Kristal Ramirez, Leslie Moreno, Madeline Arguello, Madison Carroll, Margil Sanchez-Carmona, Matthew Martin, Michelle Marceleno, Nathan Martin, Sophia Avila, Veronica Ramirez and Yesenia Chavez.

LULAC was established in 1929. It prioritizes education in its mission to advance the economic, educational, political, health, and civil rights of the Hispanic population in the United States.

“Education is key to future success, and we at LULAC 10 are excited to help students achieve that success,” Lupe Hernandez, LULAC scholarship committee chair and student success advisor at ICAN, said in a LULAC news release. “For many students, the cost of college is a barrier. We are committed to helping eliminate that barrier and help students reach their full potential.”
