Live comedy and music, art-related events, and films await you at the fifth annual Alternating Currents (AC) festival hosted by the Downtown Davenport Partnership (DDP). This year more than 120 performances will be split among two cities’ downtowns. The festival starts on Thursday, Aug. 18, and ends on Sunday, Aug. 21. It will take place between downtown Rock Island and downtown Davenport. There are more than 25 venues between the two downtowns hosting the festival. Stephen King also gave the Dollar Baby Film Festival, which is part of the AC film festival, his blessing to show films based on his short stories. These unreleased, never-before-seen films will be shown for the free at Alternating Currents. “The Dollar Baby program aligns so well with our mission to highlight up and coming creatives, and we are thrilled to add this programming to the Alternating Currents Film Festival this year,” said DDP Event Director Jason Gilliland. “This will be a fantastic opportunity to feature filmmakers and will be a popular attraction for festival goers.Alternating Currents is a festival featuring more than 60 national, regional and local acts over the four-day event at locations across downtown Quad Cities. Now in its fifth year, Alternating Currents is organized by the DDP. a division of the Quad Cities Chamber, in collaboration with local talent across our region’s creative community. All Alternating Currents performances are free to attend.
