Davenport-based newspaper publisher Lee Enterprises has cancelled a special meeting of its stockholders that had been scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19.
The company also withdrew all proposals that were set to be considered at the meeting, according to a statement made in a news release and filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The special meeting was called to address proposals outlined in Lee’s proxy statement filed Thursday, Nov. 13. The company stated that it continues to evaluate potential strategic and financing transactions and decided to cancel the meeting to facilitate this ongoing process, according to SEC documents.
During its recent fourth quarter and full fiscal year report, Lee reported revenue was down, but it was making progress for future growth in the company’s “digital transformation.”
In the Quad Cities region, Lee is the publisher of the Quad-City Times, The Dispatch and Rock Island Argus, and Muscatine Journal newspapers. It publishes more than 70 daily papers and 350 weekly and specialty publications serving 73 markets in 26 U.S. states.
