Launch party set for Argrow’s House Gift Shop & Cafe

The new Argrow’s House Gift Shop & Cafe at 3811 Harrison St., Suite 100, Davenport, will have a launch party from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4.

“We encourage you to stop by and see our new gift-shop and try a free sample of our new big shoulders coffee created by women in Colombia,” according to the Argrow Facebook page.

“This is a huge launch for us as we are using this space to provide a central hub in the Quad Cities region that fosters collaboration, education, and support for social innovation and justice enterprises serving underserved and under-resourced populations,” according to information from Argrow’s.

The new gift shop and cafe is the latest project associated with Argrow’s House of Healing and Hope. That organization is a safe space where free services are offered daily for women healing from violence and abuse. Argrow’s House is also a bath and body social enterprise where women healing from abuse create beautiful products that provide a living.

In addition to the new gift shop and cafe, the group Autistic & Loved is opening a Sensory Gym for children with autism and their families. It will serve as a place for children with sensory needs to have a place to play, be safe, and be themselves. This not only is a gym, but a space that can be rented out to therapists in the area so they can be a resource for Autistic & Loved members and their families.

The gym opening, also set for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 4., will be at 3811 Harrison St., Suite 200.

Autistic & Loved was founded by Dr. Argrow ‘Kit’ Evans Ford, after seeing that there was a need for more resources and products for children with sensory needs in the community.

Over the last seven years, Argrow’s House has served hundreds of women and children healing from violence. The organization has employed survivors, offered monthly domestic violence support groups, art therapy, food programs, therapeutic animal support and yoga, as well as opened a community and counseling center for survivors and provided a residence for women and children survivors of violence to live rent free.
