
The Last Picture House is hosting a special event and screening of “A Quiet Place: Day One” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 29. It will be followed by an in-person question and answer session with writer/director Michael Sarnoski.
The discussion will be moderated by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, writers and creators of “A Quiet Place.” Members of The Autograph Club will receive the first opportunity to purchase tickets. Ticket sales open to the general public on Thursday, June 20.
The movie takes place before the events portrayed in “A Quiet Place” and its sequel “A Quiet Place Part II.” A woman named Sam must survive an invasion in New York City by bloodthirsty alien creatures with ultrasonic sound hearing.
The movie opens nationwide and at The Last Picture House Wednesday, June 27, and stars Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou. It is rated PG-13 for terror and violent content/bloody images.
Mr. Sarnoski is an award-winning filmmaker and the writer and director of “Pig” starring
Nicolas Cage and Alex Wolff. Awards he received for the film include the National Board of Review Award for Best Directorial Debut and the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay. He also received nominations from the Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directing – First-Time Feature Film and the Gotham Independent Film nomination for Best Feature. Pig was hailed as The New York Times’ Critics Pick, a Metacritic Must-See and on countless critics’ top 10 lists with a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Mr. Beck and Mr. Woods are Iowa natives best known as the writers and creators of “A Quiet Place,” starring Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, which grossed more than $340 million worldwide. Their other credits include writing and directing Sony Pictures’ 65 starring Adam Driver which was released worldwide and later debuted as the No. 1 film on Netflix, the acclaimed thriller “Haunt” writing and producing the Stephen King adaptation of “The Boogeyman” for 20th Century Studios and writing, directing and producing the “Heretic” for A24 starring Hugh Grant. .
