Knox College names Jones new CFO

    GALESBURG, Ill. — Knox College announced that Scott Jones will join the college as chief financial officer and vice president for finance, effective Feb. 3, 2026.

    A Tuesday, Dec. 16, news release said Mr. Jones, an experienced higher education financial officer, comes to Knox from Union College in Schenectady, New York. There he has served as vice president for administration and finance, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer since 2021.

    He has spent more than 25 years in senior financial management positions, primarily at liberal arts institutions. Before Union College, Mr. Jones was assistant vice president for finance at Colby College and manager for university analytics at the University of Virginia.

    At Knox, Mr. Jones will oversee all financial matters, including budgeting, investment activities, financial modeling, planning and analysis. He will also oversee the Business Office, Finance teams, and Human Resources.

    “His deep experience and financial acumen, especially at liberal arts colleges, will be invaluable as the college navigates this challenging moment and plans for its future,” Knox President C. Andrew McGadney said in the release.

    Union College President Elizabeth Kiss praised Mr. Jones’ dedication, saying his “passion for Union’s mission and commitment to enhancing the student experience were evident.”

    Mr. Jones holds a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.

    “I look forward to helping Knox College navigate its course in an increasingly difficult and competitive environment,” he said, adding he is eager to collaborate with colleagues to help the college become a more financially sustainable institution.

    Mr. Jones and his wife, Juli, have three children. He also is committed to community service, including having served as board chair of the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA of Greater Waterville.
