Coralville-based Kinseth Hospitality Companies have been named the 2024 Hoteliers of the Year by the Iowa Hotel and Lodging Association (IHLA).
In a release published Wednesday, the IHLA recognized Kinseth for its leadership, resilience, and contributions to the hospitality industry. The Kinseth siblings, Leslie, Bruce, Gary, and Linda Skinner, were also honored during the IHLA’s annual awards luncheon on Oct. 2 in Johnston, Iowa.
They were celebrated alongside recipients in seven additional categories: General Manager, Employee, Champion, Philanthropist, Legislator, Innovator, and Sustainability Property of the Year.
Back in August, Kinseth Hospitality announced that they would develop a new AC Hotel by Marriott at the rapidly expanding Kingston Yard development in Cedar Rapids. Construction is expected to begin in April 2025.
“The Hotelier of the Year award recognizes those who demonstrate exceptional leadership in the lodging industry, from delivering outstanding guest experiences to showcasing business acumen and innovation,” said Jessica Dunker, president and CEO of the IHLA, in the release. “The Kinseth family embodies all of these qualities and more. Over the decades, their hard work, family collaboration, and willingness to innovate have not only grown Kinseth Hospitality Companies from a single location in rural Iowa to a portfolio of over 125 hotels, but they’ve also shaped and strengthened the entire industry.”
Founded in 2022, the IHLA is the professional trade association representing the state’s nearly 1,000 hotel and lodging establishments.
Locally, the chain includes the Comfort Inn & Suites and Staybridge Suites in Davenport, Iowa, The River Rock Kitchen and Tap, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn, Townplace Suites, in Dubuque, Iowa, Hilton Garden Inn in Bettendorf, Holiday Inn, Rock Island Ale House, in Rock Island, Illinois, Holiday Inn in Clinton, Iowa, Comfort Suites and Fairfield Inn and Suites, and Holiday Inn in Burlington, Iowa.
