Junior Achievement of the Heartland recently raised more than $7,500 in donations for its capital campaign to build a new JA Inspiration Center at Vibrant Credit Union Corporate Center in Moline.

According to JA, a micro campaign within its Giving Tree Campaign recently wrapped up with $5,048.01 in donations. That’s just over 100% of its goal. In addition, it will receive a $2,500 match from the Moline Regional Community Foundation through an endowment fund established there by the late Tom and Karen Getz.
The new Inspiration Center is now under construction at Vibrant’s headquarters. It was the former Sam’s Club off John Deere Expressway. The center will be on the southwest corner of Vibrant’s 6600 44th Ave. location. It will provide a new home for the nonprofit’s capstone programs: JA BizTown and JA Finance Park.
Move in coming soon
Those programs are expected to move into the new Inspiration Center in late summer or early fall from their current downtown Davenport location.
“One of the most valuable lessons students learn at JA BizTown is the importance of committing to make their community a better place through giving back,” Dougal Nelson, JA’s president and CEO, told the QCBJ. “The Giving Tree will serve as a place where students can explore philanthropy and how they can make a difference.”
Through the micro campaign, supporters could purchase leaves for the Giving Tree. The fundraising effort sold nearly 500 leaves to 69 donors, JA said. That put the overall capital campaign at 76% of its $3.25 million goal. The campaign kicked off last fall.
Davenport-based Russell recently began construction on the new 13,000-square-foot center.
