Jaycees of the Quad Cities cooking up its second annual Bar-B-QC

Jaycees of the Quad Cities, a volunteer organization that aims to build personal and professional relationships to strengthen the Quad Cities non-profit community, has announced its 2nd annual Bar-B-QC event.

Sponsored by Midwest Grilling Supplies, Davenport, the event will be from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 9-10, at LeClaire Park in downtown Davenport.

The 100% volunteer-organized and executed fundraiser will feature live performances from local high schools during the day and live bands at night. The event’s highlight will be national and local BBQ vendors and a Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS)-sanctioned Backyard BBQ event.

The KCBS competition, sponsored by Tyson, will have a $7,500 purse with competitors vying in three categories: pork ribs, chicken and steak.

The fundraiser’s proceeds will support a variety of local non-profits in the Quad

Cities including: CASI, Tapestry Farms, Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities, Camp Kesem, and more. In addition, the funds also support Jaycees-sponsored charity events such as Jaycees Santa. A volunteer favorite, Jaycees shop for more than 100 underprivileged Quad Cities families in order to make Christmas a wonderful and memorable experience

The Jaycees of the Quad Cities chapter is one of the oldest in the State of Iowa and has grown to include young professionals from both sides of the Mississippi River. For more information on becoming a member, visit www.jayceesqc.org or call (563) 484-0041.
