Small Town Pastry Cafe is a paradise for foodies, according to its many fans who praise the business on its Facebook page.The pastry business, located at 4572 Wyndham Drive, Bettendorf, serves up a sweet selection of breakfast, lunch and dessert items. Menu items include the hot honey breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, chicken caesar wrap and the hummus wrap.But the stars of the Small Town Pastry Cafe show are the sweet treats. They include lots of croissants, danishes, muffins and scones.“People like all of our pastries … but the croissants are really popular. We make them from scratch,” said Diana Yazigi, owner of the pastry business on Monday morning, June 9, during a celebration to honor her fifth year as owner of the business. It’s located in the Wyndham Town Center building near the Middle Road-Crow Creek Road intersection.That celebration included a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony, a special cake-cutting event, live music and plenty of treats for the 30 or so people from the business community who attended Monday’s event and appeared to enjoy every bit of the treats.

This week features a series of special events at the Small Town Pastry Cafe.
During the celebration, Bettendorf Mayor Bob Gallagher thanked Small Town Pastry and Ms. Yazigi for choosing Bettendorf to do business, and for providing a wide variety of sweet treats over the years.Treats on display on Monday included chocolate croissants, monster cookies, chocolate twists, blueberry muffins, blueberry coffee cakes and lemon poppyseed muffins, and one of its newest offerings – a 16-layer honey cake.
Weeklong celebration
“A lot of people also like our specialist cakes, like the opera cakes,” said Addie Judd of Bettendorf, one of the Small Town Pastry Cafe employees on the job Monday morning.Monday’s celebration is part of a week of festival events to help mark the anniversary. Other events include a cupcake bar today (Tuesday), Dubai cake discount day on Wednesday, June 11, and plenty of prize give-aways.The business owner said she created the week of special events and sweet treat discounts as a way to thank her many customers for the past five years.“Your support means a lot to us. … The last five years have been hard, but we made it,” Ms. Yazigi added.The business owner also told the crowd that it was tough s to survive the recent COVID-19 years. But she was able to do so during that era due to her business management knowledge and experience. Also, it's helped that Small Town Pastry keeps serving up homemade croissants and other sweet goodies that have people coming back for more.“We have pastries here you can’t get anywhere else,” added Ms. Yazigi.Small Town Pastry Cafe is open seven days a week. It is open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
