Tiphanie Cannon loves downtown Davenport and her rebranded business in its new home.
“I freaking love downtown. … There are so many things happening,” she said Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 8, before a ribbon-cutting ceremony to welcome her business Tiphanie’s – formerly known as Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie’s – to 210 E. Second St., Davenport.
Around 40 people from the business community, the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, Tiphanie’s employees and other business operators attended to celebrate a new chapter for the business. It includes a move from 314 Main St. to its new and larger site on East Second Street, which is on the first floor of the Urbane 210 apartment/business building. It’s also next door to the RAYGUN gift store.
Oh So Sweet By Tiphanie was located at 314 Main St. for almost nine years. The new location, which has been in the works for a couple of years, offers the newly branded Tiphanie’s a lot more room to grow. There’s more room for the customers, more room for the kitchen crew to get goodies made and more room to host events in a new party room.
Recently, Ms. Cannon announced that the new location needed a new name.
“I decided it was time for a change to something that could be a bridge from Main Street ‘Oh So Sweet’ to the new 210 ‘Oh So Sweet’ and everything we have to offer. So, after a lot of thought, I decided to rename my business Tiphanie’s,” Ms. Cannon wrote on her business’ Facebook page.
Several employees added that even with the new name, the business will still offer the same great customer service. But it will now come with many more offerings from the menu and more space.
“We can do more things in this place, like parties. It’s a blast,” said Emma Trimble, Tiphanie’s general manager, while setting up trays of treats during Tuesday’s event. The new space has about 3,900 square feet, can seat more than 80 customers and a kitchen that is more than triple the size of the former bakery kitchen on Main Street. Tiphanie’s employs about 25 people.
And there’s even outdoor space. “I also love the patio. We couldn’t have a patio at our other location. … This allows us to do so much more,” Ms. Cannon said.
With the expanded space and new location comes an expanded vision for the business. During its Oh So Sweet by Tiphanie days on Main Street, the business was primarily known as a bakery offering a wide variety of goodies. Now, the bakery is still going strong, but it’s also offering a menu that includes breakfast sandwiches and bowls, and items for suppers. So people of the Quad Cities can now have breakfast (and lunch and supper) at Tiphanie’s.
Some of those offerings include:
- Twisto on a Monte Cristo: This breakfast sandwich includes sweet, salty and cheesy with ham, Swiss cheesy and two fried eggs with powdered sugar.
- Kind of a Pig Deal : A breakfast bowl with ham, sausage, bacon served with crispy potatoes, sauteed onions, melted cheese and two fried eggs.
- Yo Soy Chorizo: A breakfast sandwich made with two fried eggs, hash brown patty, cheddar cheese and fresh avocado.
- Cluck Norris: A chicken sandwich with bacon, ranch and avocado.
- Turkey Pesto is the Besto: This grilled sandwich has sunflower seed basil pesto, whipped ricotta spread, heirloom tomatoes, bacon and shaved turkey.
- Barbie Margarita: This includes tequila, dragon fruit and lime.
- Tan Lines: Fresh cantaloupe juice, St. Germain, Prosecco.
- Taste Like Summer: Fresh raspberries, vodka, limoncello and lemon juice.
- Pineapple on the Patio: Vodka, triple sec, pineapple juice martini.
