IowaWORKS will host its third reverse hiring event for the Quad City Steamwheelers from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday, March 18, at the IowaWORKS job center at 1801A E. Kimberly Road, Davenport.
The private hiring event will allow for employers to interview players in hopes of securing long-term employment. This is the third event of its kind.
“Our hope is to find employment that revolves around the players’ practice and game schedule,” said Cory Ross, the Steamwheelers head coach in a news release. “The community has been supportive of the team. Helping with employment secures the livelihood of our players to stay in the Quad Cities during and beyond the Steamwheeler season.”
Employers who will participate in the event can apply for open positions in the companies that could accommodate practice times and games. Most of the players have college degrees or certificates that include: medical, personal trainer, sales, human resources and management.
About 30 players plan to participate.
Employers interested in participating in the event can call (563) 445-3200 Ext. 43335. The event is not open to the public, but employers are encouraged to participate.
