Iowa American Water promotes Tony Loete

Iowa American Water has appointed Tony Loete as its new vice president of operations.

Mr. Loete will oversee statewide field operations, water production, system maintenance, water quality, and environmental compliance, ensuring safe and reliable service for 227,000 Iowans.

According to Iowa American Water President Brad Nielsen, Mr. Loete’s “extensive knowledge of water and wastewater system operations, ability to tackle complex problems, and extensive experience overseeing significant infrastructure investment projects and leading diverse teams will be well utilized in his new role.”

Mr. Loete joined the company in September 2024 as an engineering project manager. Previously, he served as the City of Moline’s director of utilities, bringing 36 years of experience in the water and wastewater sector. Since joining Iowa American Water, Mr. Loete has managed projects ranging from $3 million to $9 million in the Quad Cities and Clinton, Iowa, which have required collaboration with contractors, property owners, and external stakeholders.

Mr. Loete holds a bachelor’s degree from Western Illinois University and an associate’s degree from Black Hawk College. He is licensed as a water and wastewater operator in both Iowa and Illinois. He will be based in the company’s Davenport office.
