Davenport-based Iowa American Water, in partnership with the American Water Charitable Foundation, has awarded a $5,000 State Strategic Impact grant to the Quad Cities Community Foundation. The funding will support fire departments within Iowa American Water’s service areas as part of the utility’s commitment to public safety.
The grant, part of the Foundation’s Keep Communities Flowing Grant Program, will help offset costs related to equipment and training for eight local fire departments. Eligible expenses include personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, and water handling equipment.
“Partnerships like this make a real difference in the safety and quality of life in our region,” said Anne Calder, vice president of development at the Quad Cities Community Foundation. “We’re thankful to Iowa American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation for recognizing the essential role of our fire departments and for investing in the well-being of the communities we all call home.”
Brad Nielsen, president of Iowa American Water, emphasized the company’s dedication to community partnership. “Being a good corporate neighbor and an engaged community partner has always been central to who we are as a company,” Mr. Nielsen said in a news release.
“We’re honored to support the Quad Cities Community Foundation in its shared commitment to public safety and to invest in the essential work of local first responders who protect the communities we serve,” he said.
