ImpactLife is joining blood providers worldwide in observing Saturday, June 14, as World Blood Donor Day. The organization is thanking volunteer donors for supplying the region’s blood and is seeking to increase donations during the summer months.
“On World Blood Donor Day, we want to thank the volunteer donors who consistently support our region’s blood supply, and we invite new donors to join in support of our mission,” Katie Marchik, ImpactLife chief operating officer, said in a news release.
“Blood products given by volunteer donors are used in lifesaving treatments at hospitals every day across our region. Donating today helps keep this lifesaving resource on the shelves at your hospital and helps ensure we are ready to respond with additional units of blood in an emergency,” she added.

To encourage more donations to meet the QC region’s blood needs, ImpactLife is offering triple points in its Donor Rewards program and a new Adventure Packages giveaway.
The Donor For Life program offers rewards that increase in value with each donation within a calendar year. Donors can choose an electronic gift card, bonus points for the Donor Rewards Store, or a charitable donation to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit via the Good Giving program. For more information, visit here.
Donor rewards and adventure prizes
From June 9-22, each donation earns three times the usual Donor Rewards points, and donors will be entered into a drawing for these six Adventure Packages:
- Four tickets to the Iowa State Fair, four Advanced Thrill Pass wristbands, and parking. The state fair runs from Thursday to Sunday, Aug. 7-17, at the fairgrounds located at 3000 E. Grand Ave. in Des Moines.
- Four Splash passes to Knight’s Action Park, 1700 Knights Recreation Drive, Springfield, Illinois.
- Two Blue Season passes to Little Amerricka in Marshall, Wisconsin.
- Four tickets to Six Flags St. Louis in Eureka, Missouri.
- Four tickets to Wisconsin State Fair, four SpinCity ride & game tickets, Thursday-Sunday, July 31-Aug. 10, in West Allis, Wisconsin.
- Two admission booklets (11 admission tickets each) to Illinois State Fair, plus two Mega Passes, Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 7-17, in Springfield.

Observed annually on June 14, World Blood Donor Day commemorates the birth of Dr. Karl Landsteiner, whose research identified the main blood groups (A, B, AB, and O) and the Rh-factor in blood. Blood providers worldwide mark the day by raising awareness of the need for safe blood products and thanking volunteer donors for providing a lifesaving resource in their communities.
