IMEG expands in northeast with FHI Studio acquisition

IMEG FHI

FHI Studio, a mobility, engagement, planning, and design consulting firm, has joined Quad Cities-based IMEG, the engineering firm announced Monday, Nov. 4.

The acquisition adds FHI’s two team locations in Connecticut and New York to IMEG’s growing footprint. No details of the transaction were released.

According to an IMEG news release, FHI Studio was founded in 1987 and has grown into a large dynamic, multi-discipline consulting firm with a talented team of professionals. FHI Studio serves a diverse range of markets. They include municipal/government, housing, parks & recreation, and transportation.

The deal comes on the heels of the Quad Cities engineering firm’s acquisition a month ago of Atlantec Engineers of North Carolina, and Colorado-based Innovae.

FHI’s planners, engineers, environmental specialists, designers, and communication experts are driven by a shared passion to enhance communities and help clients advance their projects, the release said.

A ‘shared passion’

“We are thrilled to welcome FHI Studio to IMEG,” Paul VanDuyne, IMEG president and CEO, said in the release. “FHI Studio’s expertise in mobility solutions, landscape architecture, environmental planning and permitting, and public engagement strengthens our ability to meet the evolving needs of the communities we serve. Our shared passion for driving positive outcomes aligns perfectly, setting the stage for powerful collaboration and continued growth.”

FHI Studio’s leadership said it is excited to become part of IMEG and broaden its reach. “The merger provides sustainability and growth potential for all our employees as well as our clients and teaming partners,” Susan VanBenschoten, FHI Studio’s CEO, said. “IMEG’s size and expertise also allows us to expand upon the innovative approaches and results-driven solutions we deliver to our clients.”

Mike Morehouse and Ken Livingston will take on the roles of client executives at IMEG. They will be responsible for managing regional team operations alongside the established leadership of FHI Studio. According to IMEG, Ms. VanBenschoten and FHI President Carla Tillery will continue to serve in leadership positions within IMEG while providing guidance throughout the transition.

The firm will continue to operate from its existing offices in the eastern U.S. It will conduct business as FHI Studio, now IMEG.

The transaction adds 60 new team member’s to IMEG’s 2,800-member workforce.

IMEG serves regions and markets with full-service, in-house engineering design. It is ranked No. 2 on BD+C’s top Engineering Firms in the U.S. list and ranked No. 52 on ENR’s Top 500 Design Firms list.
