
Illinois Quad Cities libraries and Metro transit have partnered to offer free bus rides for youth traveling to summer reading programs. From June 1 to July 31, children ages 4 to 12 can use a valid library card as their bus fare when accompanied by a paying adult. Participating libraries are East Moline Public Library, Moline Public Library, Rock Island Public Library, and Silvis Public Library.

The Moline Public Library’s “Level Up at your Library!” summer reading challenge includes prizes and free events, plus the new Moline Library Gardens. Rock Island Public Library’s “Level Up at Your Library this Summer” offers a summer reading challenge, 130 free events, and prizes. Events include Shadowland serpents, a PowerPoint party for children, Dragon Training Academy, and a petting zoo. Silvis Public Library’s “Level Up at Your Library” offers prizes for registration, halfway point, and completion, along with a Genre Badge Challenge and performances by Ballet QC, magician Mikayla Oz, and others.
