Illinois Chamber retains firm to search for new leader

Former CEO/President Todd Maisch died in June

The Illinois Chamber of Commerce has retained an executive search firm to assist it in its search for a new leader to replace the late Todd Maisch, who had led the organization nearly a decade.

In a news release Tuesday, Aug. 1, the Search Committee of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced that the chamber has retained Koya Partners, a Diversified Search Group company, after an extensive review of search firms.

Mr. Maisch, the chamber’s president and CEO, died May 31 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. He was 57. He is survived by his wife, Kim, and two children. The couple lived in Springfield.

He joined the chamber in 1994, serving as its president and CEO since 2014. A Peoria native, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and and MBA from Illinois State University.

In the release, the Search Committee said it “has a high degree of confidence that Koya will lead us through an inclusive process that solicits comprehensive input from staff and important stakeholder groups. Since its founding, Koya has conducted over a thousand C-Suite searches across the United States and around the world.”

Koya and the committee have begun engaging with staff, partners, community and business leaders to develop a profile for the chamber’s next leader.

The statewide chamber also has announced plans for its 2023 annual meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28, at the Doubletree Hilton in Oakbrook. During the event, the chamber will hold a time of remembrance and a tribute to Mr. Maisch.
