Mr. McCracken and about 40 other Hy-Vee officials, QC Chamber members and business officials attended the ceremony at the store, which is located off the ultra-busy 53rd Street, at the corner of Ravenwood Lane and almost directly across the street from the Monarch Kitchen & Bar.The new store offers a variety of food, fuel and drinks. Some of those offerings include:
Five grades of fuel at the fuel pumps.
21 flavors of slushies.
Sushi that is made fresh every day.
Freshly brewed coffee and many other drinks.
During Tuesday’s ceremony, Hy-Vee officials made special efforts to point out the freshly made food offerings available in the store. Some of those items include sandwiches, salads, pizza and other items that will help people during busy times.“Everybody’s so busy, it’s going to be great to have this,” said Dorrie Decker, a district store director for Hy-Vee. The new 5,500-square-foot store — officially called Davenport Hy-Vee Fresh & Fast No. 2 — will have about 25 employees when fully staffed, Mr. McCracken said.Hy-Vee officials on Tuesday would not comment on the cost to build the new store, which officially opened shortly before the ribbon-cutting ceremony.The opening-day events also gave QC Chamber and other business officials a chance to look over the store’s many offerings, including the Market Grill Express section of the store. That area offered items such as breakfast quesadillas and farmhouse breakfast sandwiches.The stand-alone Hy-Vee store is open every day from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
