A Honeypot esports tournament is coming to the Putnam Museum and Science Center for the first time as a two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 2-3, with Honeypot 6: Winter Is Coming.
Honeypot, a regional FGC (fighting game community) tournament series, will host the event in collaboration with Run it Down, an esports tournament management group, and Visit Quad Cities, according to a Visit Quad Cities news release.
So far, nearly 350 players are registered with a minimum prize pool of $1,000, according to the release. Now transitioning into a national-level event with players from more than 20 states, it attracts top-tier competitors across games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2, Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1 and others, according to the release.
“Bringing Honeypot 6 to the Quad Cities is a celebration of skill, passion and the vibrant esports culture,” said Albert Rassavong, lead event organizer of Run It Down, in the release.
Honeypot events also offer participants the chance to interact with their favorite players, participate in giveaways and experience esports on a larger level.
To join, register in person on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the Putnam, 1717 W. 12th St., Davenport. Spectators may watch live games at the Putnam or through streaming partners such as Quad Cities Esports, UGS Gaming, VQ Bootcamp or Twitch by searching Honeypot 6.
