Hand in Hand will be opening an additional People with Purpose day-habilitation program on Monday, Sept. 1, to meet the needs of its growing participant list.

People with Purpose is a social dayhab program designed for individuals with disabilities, ages 18 and up.

This program provides opportunities for participants to stay engaged in the Quad Cities community. It also helps them build meaningful connections, and contribute through volunteer work at charities and organizations. The person-centered program gives participants choices in the activities they participate in day to day. And it takes their input in what organizations and activities to take part in.

“Our waiting list keeps growing. This additional program will allow us to continue supporting longtime participants while welcoming new individuals into our inclusive, high-quality programs,” Hand in Hand CEO Angie Kendall said in a news release.

The program will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday. Like its People with Purpose program, it will offer choice-based activities, community volunteering, and focus on life skills and inclusion. Edwards United Church of Christ in Davenport, a long-time partner with Hand in Hand, will be the temporary new site for the group until a permanent location has been found.

Hand in Hand leaders hope to have a permanent location for the additional program by Jan. 1, 2026.

Those interested in signing up for the People with Purpose program can contact Hand in Hand’s Bailee Waddell, director of non-licensed care, at [email protected] or (563) 296-5338. To learn more about People with Purpose, visit here.

Hand in Hand is the Quad Cities’ only organization providing spaces, resources, and opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to learn, connect, and thrive. Through recreation, learning, and social opportunities, Hand in Hand works to build a community where everyone belongs.
