“This is literally on the front door to the Quad Cities. … it gives a great first impression,” said Peter Tokar III, the chamber’s president and CEO, during the celebration. The upgrades giving a great impression include renovations to all 98 guest rooms, the lobby, meeting spaces, breakfast area, and amenities such as the fitness center. The exterior also received a complete refresh with new paint and updated curb appeal. That renovation work began last September and was completed this month. During the project, the hotel remained open, but often one of the floors was closed while workers updated different sections of the Hampton. The results of the renovation work have been a big hit with the guests, said Todd Dickey, the hotel’s general manager.“We have a lot of repeat customers. …. Everybody is telling me they really like this new look,” said Mr. Dickey, who has worked there since almost the day it was opened in 2006.The local Hampton’s long history started a new chapter last year when it was bought by the Posh Hospitality Group, a hotel management company formed in 2017. Posh owns 10 hotels (most in Illinois) and three restaurants. Mr. Scott said the renovation at the Moline property was done as part of that ownership change to give the Moline hotel a fresh, new look. Many of the visitors from the business community got a close look during short tours of the hotel on Wednesday. Some of the highlights of the project included:
Guest rooms: Room 120 was open to visitors and featured two queen-sized beds, a microwave, small refrigerator, a large-screen TV, a table with two chairs, and locally inspired art on the walls. Much of that art located in the rooms and in the hallways showcases Quad Cities landmarks, such as local bridges and buildings. (Other rooms feature different designs and bed sizes.)
Meeting and board rooms: The hotel’s meeting room, called the Illini Room, can fit about 50 people. The board room has a large table with eight chairs. Those rooms are available for community use.
Amenities: These include an indoor swimming pool, yoga studio, a buffet breakfast, internet access and more.
Other hotel features: Most of the Hampton’s rooms are designed for visitors who are staying one to five days. However, the hotel does have some larger rooms that can accommodate longer hotel stays.
Workforce: The Hampton Inn has about 20 employees.
“The feedback on the renovations we’ve been getting from our guests has been excellent, which is awesome to hear,” said Mr. Scott.
