Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities will host a public dedication ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, for its latest completed home.

The Habitat home No. 137, located at 419 S. Lincoln Ave., Davenport, will be home to Taylor and her three boys. (Habitat traditionally only identifies homeowners by their first names.)

The sponsors for this home build are City of Davenport-HOME Funds and the Quad Cities Housing Council.

Habitat leaders said they are grateful for the help of community volunteers and eight work groups who assisted on this home build. In total, 690 volunteer hours were spent building this home.

Habitat’s homeownership program is a long-term solution to the affordable housing crisis. Partner families must complete a minimum of 250 volunteer hours of sweat equity and attend mandatory homeownership preparation classes with the support of a volunteer mentor.

When the home build is finished, partner families purchase it from Habitat with affordable monthly payments on a zero interest mortgage.

The nonprofit organization also dedicated a new home at 408 E. Eighth St., Davenport, in December. That event also featured a ceremony, the presentation of gifts, speeches and more.

Since 1993, Habitat for Humanity QC has dedicated 139 affordable homes. In addition, the local Habitat affiliate has completed 151 home repairs and installed 101 accessibility ramps since 2019.
