Grow Clinton opens registration for Leadership Institute

CLINTON, Iowa – The 2023 Grow Clinton Leadership Institute now is accepting applications for its sessions, which begin in January.

The course is designed to foster the growth of leaders in the region. Grow Clinton officials said the institute offers opportunities to: improve leadership skills; increase effectiveness in your job; improve community awareness; pick up new tools and techniques for leading groups; and network with other community leaders.

Class sessions will be 8 to 11 a.m. every other Tuesday, beginning Jan. 24. Most classes will be at the Clinton Community School District Administration Building, 1401 12th Ave. North. Graduation will be held during the 151st Grow Clinton Annual Meeting in June.

The scheduled sessions include: 

  • Jan. 10 – The kick-off session with the theme “Why Develop Yourself as a Leader?” This session will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Clinton Community College Career Advancement Center.
  • Jan. 24 – Strengths Based Leadership.
  • Feb. 7 – Giftedness and Self Leadership.
  • Feb. 21 – Philanthropic Leadership/Leadership Iowa.
  • March 7 – Generational Differences in Leadership.
  • March 21 –  Clinton Leaders of Yesteryear. This class will meet at the Sawmill Museum.
  • April 4 – Innovations and Creativity of Leaders in Group.
  • April 18 – Leading our Communities in Economic Community Development.
  • May 2 – Leaders in Clinton County government. This class will meet at the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.
  • May 16 – Clinton Leaders of Today. This class will meet at the Grow Clinton office.

Applications are due Thursday, Dec. 31, and limited to 25 people. Tuition is $500 and non-refundable once the program begins.
