Groups collaborate to host Veterans Experience Center

Event offers services for vets, spouses and others

The Quad Cities Veterans Experience Action Center (QCVEAC) will be held Friday and Saturday, June 27 and 28, providing a one-stop shop for veterans’ services.

The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Black Hawk College (Building 3), 6600 34th Ave., Moline.

This collaborative event brings together the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, UnityPoint Health and the Quad Cities Community Veterans Engagement Board (CVEB), as well as numerous local, state and community partners to deliver real-time support for veterans, transitioning military members, spouses and caregivers.

“UnityPoint Health is proud to walk alongside our veterans, ensuring they receive the care and services they’ve earned,” said Sherri Behr DeVrieze, military program coordinator at UnityPoint Health – Trinity and the CVEB co-chair. “The Veterans Experience Action Center is more than an event – it’s a commitment to honoring their service by meeting them where they are and connecting them to what they need.”

Veterans will be able to access an array of services under one roof – from healthcare and benefits support to employment services and counseling. Community partners on site include:

Quad Cities Veterans Network, Quad Cities Veterans Outreach Center, UnityPoint Health – Robert Young Center, Veteran Service officers from Illinois and Iowa, and Women Veterans of the Quad Cities. ImpactLife also will be on-site for attendees interested in donating blood.

Available Veterans Affairs services include:

  • Claims assistance from the Veterans Benefits Administration.
  • Enrollment and support through the Veterans Health Administration, including women’s health and caregiver services.
  • Resources from the National Cemetery Administration, Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Quad City Vet Center and more.

Veterans should bring their DD-214 form and documents related to new or current claims.

There also will be career assistance workshops offering sessions on building a strong LinkedIn profile, using AI ethically in the job search and resume creation. Session information – including dates and times – can be found on the Quad Cities Community Veterans Engagement Facebook page.

“When veterans walk through those doors, we want them to know they’re not alone. This event brings the right people to the table so we can deliver the right help, right away,” said Col. Burl Randolph, Jr., CVEB co-chair and retired Army officer. “We’re here to listen, to serve and to show our gratitude in action.”

Additional community support for the QCVEAC is provided by Arconic, Eaton, John Deere, St. Ambrose University, Sedona Technologies Government Services, UnityPoint Health Freedom Run and UnityPoint Health.
