River Action‘s 23rd annual fundraiser dinner, Fish & Fire, will be held May 1 at the Waterfront Convention Center in Bettendorf. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a social hour, silent auction and cash bar. A plated dinner will follow at 6:30 p.m.
The evening will also include the presentation of the 26th annual Eddy Awards and scholarships, followed by a live auction featuring auctioneer Decker Ploehn.
The Eddy Awards recognize those who have made significant contributions to the Mississippi River in the areas of art, design, education, revitalization, river activity, stewardship and special recognition.
This year’s winners include:
- River Activity – Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Big Island Soil & Water Preservation, Big Island River Conservancy District, Hennepin Canal Bridge
- Education – Robbie Mcintyre, Spring Forward, “Our River” Summer Camp
- Stewardship – Brian Burkholder, Vegetation Specialist, Prairie Ecosystem Restoration
- Revitalization – B & L Development, Redeem (Revitalize & Develop East Moline) – The Quarter.
- Art – Jean Downey, Artist, Sunday in the Park
- Special Recognition – Jeff Leonard, Volunteer
