Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mississippi Valley (BBBS-MV) is looking for those who are adventurous to take part in its major fundraising event later this summer.
That event is the 2025 Over the Edge event, where participants will have the opportunity to rappel 11 stories down the side of a downtown Davenport building.
This fundraiser, presented by Active Endeavors and Bitco Insurance Companies, will take place Friday and Saturday, Aug. 22-23, at the Hotel Blackhawk, 200 E. 3rd St.
Participants not only will have the fun of rappelling 11 stories down the hotel, it’s all to raise critical funds and awareness of BBBS-MV’s mission of igniting the potential of local youth through impactful mentoring relationships.

To go Over the Edge, the volunteers will be raising these amounts:
- $1,000 for individual rappellers.
- $1,750 for duos.
- $2,500 for teams of three, plus $750 for each additional team member.
BBBS-MV provides support every step of the way, including fundraising tools, personal coaching, and ongoing encouragement.
This year, BBBS-MV will launch a special night rappel exclusively for Over the Edge alumni. On Friday, Aug. 22, as the sun sets over the Quad Cities, past participants can experience the rush of rappelling in a whole new way, conquering the 11-story descent by the glow of city lights.
Participants also will enjoy a series of prizes throughout their fundraising journey, along with a special participant-only social with food, drinks, awards, and giveaways a month before the event.
