Genesis Medical Center receives Iowa Donor Network award

The Iowa Donor Network (IDN) has announced that Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, received the Iowa Donor Network’s 2023 LEGACI Award for Gratitude at an award ceremony this month.  

 LEGACI Awards are presented to IDN’s partner agencies and/or their team members for going above and beyond in helping IDN meet its mission of “Working Together to Transform Lives through Organ and Tissue Donation,” according to a news release. 

There are six categories of LEGACI Awards: Leadership, Education, Gratitude, Advocacy, Clinical Excellence and Innovation. The Gratitude award is given to individuals and/or partner agencies who seek opportunities to share a personal story of donation, demonstrate a personal connection to donor families through participation in events to honor donors, and engage donor families in donation initiatives, the release states.

Other area LEGACI awards and award winners include:  

  • Advocacy: Iowa Department of Transportation.  
  • Education: Durant Community School District. 
  • Innovation: Mercy Iowa City. 

Excellence in Partnership award winners include: 

  • Healthcare Leader: Stacy Wille, ICU Supervisor at Genesis Medical Center. 
  • Medical Examiner/MEI: Thomas Summitt, chief investigator at Muscatine County Medical Examiner’s Office. 
  • Volunteer Impact: Jeanine Flies, donor mom and IDN volunteer.
