Genesis Medical Center still is recruiting high school students for two summer sessions of its Genesis Adventures in Nursing (GAIN) Camp.

Open to students in grades 9-12, GAIN provides an opportunity to explore nursing and healthcare careers. Students meet for half-day sessions for a week.

Hosted by Genesis Medical Center, Davenport, GAIN gives participants firsthand encounters with various nursing and health care opportunities. Through various hands-on mock situations and simulations, students can experience what it may be like to be a Genesis nurse.
Registrations still are being accepted for these sessions:

  • June 19-23 (deadline to register is Friday, April 21)
  • July 17-21 (deadline for registration is Wednesday, May 17)

To determine the program’s impact on influencing future healthcare and nursing careers, Genesis conducted a previous research study to survey participants who completed GAIN Camp from 2009 to 2016. Of the respondents, 67% were pursuing a career in health care.
