Geneseo’s Christmas Walk to get Second Chance to Shine

Icy weather delays, but didn’t stop downtown event

Geneseo Christmas Walk Second Chance chance to shine

The 2024 Geneseo Christmas Walk will get a second chance to shine from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 21, after being iced out by nasty weather on Saturday, Dec. 14, the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce has announced.

The theme of this year’s walk –  “Too Many Santas!”  – will remain the same, but the Lighted Christmas Float Display will be somewhat modified, the chamber news release said.

“We are thrilled to announce the first ever State Street Illumination Sensation, in which Lighted  Parade floats will line up on State Street through Downtown Geneseo,” the release said.

At 5 p.m., along with lighting the City Christmas Tree, all of the stationary floats will be lit at the same time in downtown Geneseo.

The parade will remain stationary, meaning the floats will not be moving and will be parked on State Street. That will offer eventgoers a unique opportunity to see the floats up close. In addition, State Street illumination Sensation lends itself to some incredible holiday photo opportunities, according to the release.

Also featured on Saturday will be warming stations and live holiday music. Stores and restaurants in downtown Geneseo will also be open late to help attendees with last-minute holiday shopping and dining needs.

The Geneseo Christmas Walk promises “something for everyone.” The evening also will be filled with “Christmas magic” and most events are free unless otherwise indicated. (Some meal and warming sites will accept free will donations.)

Helping to make the event possible are the following Victorian Level Sponsors of the 2024 Geneseo Christmas Walk: Fareway Meat & Grocery, J.F. Edwards Construction Co., and Springfield Armory.
