First Trust opens bank branch in Walcott

    WALCOTT, Iowa – First Trust and Savings Bank has expanded its footprint with a new branch in this community.

    A grand opening celebration was held Thursday, July 17, for First Trust and Savings’ new bank branch at 123 W. Walcott Road. That celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and cookout that attracted about 400 people, bank leaders said.

    “The community has been very welcoming and supportive. We’ve had lots of customers express excitement about having another option in our small town. We’ve already opened new accounts and are looking forward to continued growth,” Devona Stender, the bank’s operations manager, said in an email message to the Quad Cities Regional Business Journal.

    Ms. Stender added that the new bank branch measures 1,606 square feet, and employs six people. The new branch has been open since Friday, June 27.

    First Trust and Savings Bank, headquartered in Wheatland, employs about 50 people in all at its eight eastern Iowa locations. In addition to Walcott, First Trust has branches in Wheatland (main office), Dixon, Lost Nation, Calamus, Grand Mound, Donahue and Eldridge.

    The new Walcott branch has lobby hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. The drive-through is open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays. It can be reached at (563) 284-2525 or at  www.firsttrust.bank. 

    The bank branch also has a full-service ATM.

    First Trust and Savings was founded in Wheatland in 1886 by Edward Guenther, along with his brother, Henry Guenther, and their father, John Guenther.
