
The Family Credit Union has selected Michael Brandt as its new chief executive officer, effective Monday, April 28.
Mr. Brandt brings more than 24 years of experience in the credit union industry. He most recently served as president/CEO of Empower Credit Union in West Allis, Wisconsin. In that role, he was recognized as a Notable Credit Union Leader by BizTimes Magazine in 2021 for creating the credit union’s Change for Charities debit card program.
“It’s a true honor to join The Family Credit Union as CEO,” Mr. Brandt said in a news release. “I’m excited to partner with this dedicated team, leveraging our collective experience to shape a vibrant future for our members and the institution.”
Steve Horan, the board vice chair and a search committee member, expressed confidence in Mr. Brandt’s leadership, experience, and understanding of the credit union philosophy. “After a thorough and thoughtful search process, the board of directors is confident that Mike’s leadership, experience, and deep understanding of the credit union philosophy make him the ideal person to lead the credit union into its next chapter and help us continue to improve the financial lives of Iowans.”
Headquartered in Davenport, the Family Credit Union provides innovative financial products and services to its members. The credit union was originally founded in 1935 as the Kohrs Credit Union and changed its name to Oscar Mayer Credit Union after the Oscar Mayer Co. purchased Kohrs. It serves members in Perry,Iowa, as well as eastern Iowa and western Illinois.
