“This has been my passion my whole life,” the Bettendorf woman said.Ms. McGee, who has 20 years of experience in the retail sales business, now is bringing that passion to the Quad Cities with the opening of her new holistic health business, Elm Street Apothecary, in NorthPark Mall, Davenport. Elm Street is located near Von Maur in the mall, in between the Bubble Tea and Goodwill of the Heartland locations.“People are excited to have something different and new. … I’ve had a lot of mall walkers stop by and wish me luck,” she said on Wednesday morning, June 12, before a Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting ceremony at her business. About 20 people attended the brief ceremony. In addition to the ceremony, Ms. McGee received flowers, cards and many words of praise from people who stopped by to welcome her to the business community.Elm Street, which opened for business on Tuesday, June 11, offers a variety of products for people interested in holistic health. Some of those products include: many varieties of tea; coffees, such as mushroom coffee; sage bundles; incense sticks; soaps; lavender scents; and many books.A sign inside the store states: “Welcome to Elm Street. Find something special to support a holistic approach to your well being.”Ms. McGee said she knows that “something special” will be a different journey for every customer in the store. She added that she opened Elm Street so people interested in what nature has to offer have a place to explore. She also decided to open at NorthPark because she said she believes the mall is still a good place to do business. “I think there’s going to be a lot of opportunity here,” she added.Elm Street, which has three employees, is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
