Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) will offer a 40-hour Ultrasonic Nondestructive Testing (NDT) course June 9–13 at the Blong Technology Center at 8500 Hillandale Rd, Davenport.
The hands-on training is designed for technicians, inspectors, and industry professionals to develop skills in the critical field of nondestructive testing. The course will run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily in Room 221 at the Blong center. The cost is $1,095.
Registration is available at eicc.edu/ultrasonic. For additional information, contact Advanced Manufacturing Program Manager Brandy Poston at [email protected] or (563) 441-4377.
Participants will learn to use ultrasonic testing equipment to detect flaws in materials without causing damage – a key function in industries such as manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, construction, and energy.
“We’re proud to bring this advanced training to the Quad Cities region,” Ashlee Spannagel, EICC’s vice chancellor of workforce development, said in a news release. “Nondestructive testing is a key component of quality and safety in so many industries. This course gives employers a chance to strengthen their teams with in-demand skills.”
Topics covered will include ultrasonic wave behavior, transducer design, flaw detection, signal interpretation, and the operation of professional ultrasonic testing equipment. Participants will receive a 40-hour completion certificate.
The course will be led by David Eisenmann, an expert in materials science and nondestructive evaluation. His background includes a PhD in materials science and engineering as well as applied research in areas such as phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) and eddy current.
