Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) is offering Iowa Coaching Authorization and Iowa Substitute Teacher Authorization courses in November.
These short-term programs are designed for parents, retirees and anyone seeking a rewarding way to make a difference. With flexible learning options and affordable tuition, participants can earn their authorization and be prepared to step onto the field or into the classroom.
The EICC Coaching Authorization course begins Tuesday, Nov. 4, and costs $490. It includes both in-person and online learning, covering topics such as human growth and development, coaching theory and ethics, anatomy and physiology, injury prevention and care and communication.
The program fulfills the state’s 55-hour workshop requirement, and those who complete it can apply for Coaching Authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. To register, visit eicc.edu/coaching.
The Substitute Teacher Authorization course costs $100 and will be offered on Saturday, Nov. 1 and Nov. 8. Participants will learn about ethics, classroom management, diversity and instructional strategies – essential skills for creating a positive learning environment. To qualify, individuals must be at least 21 years old and hold an associate’s degree, paraeducator certificate, or have earned 60 credit hours from a regionally accredited institution.
Upon completion, participants can apply for Substitute Teacher Authorization through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. To register, visit eicc.edu/substitute.
