Volunteers are needed for a Downtown Cleanup event next month in Bettendorf.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Bettendorf City Hall Plaza, 1609 State St. A free lunch will be served before the cleanup from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Volunteers will begin the cleanup work at 12:30 p.m. Go here to register to volunteer for the event.
City of Bettendorf officials said they hope to get about 100 volunteers. There is no formal deadline to sign up to volunteer, but city officials want to get a total volunteer count about five days before the April 16 cleanup event so they can order enough box lunches and supplies for the event.
Supplies will be provided, including safety vests, gloves, bags, and garbage pickers will be provided. Parking is available at Bettendorf City Hall, 15th Street Landing, and along any side street downtown.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing, such as long pants and durable shoes.
The event is being presented by the City of Bettendorf, the Downtown Bettendorf Organization and organized by XStream Cleanup.
