IowaWORKS to host disability employment webinars

Disability webinars child care grants

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) and persons with disabilities are the largest untapped talent pool in Iowa. IowaWORKS and the Employers Council of Iowa are hosting a weekly series of webinars.

They are designed to help employers learn more ways to diversify their workforce through hiring these job ready candidates.

The seminar schedule includes: 

  • Assistive Technology – Wednesday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m to noon. This session will cover an introduction to Assistive Technology, available resources, and the implementation of assistive technology.
  • Autism Speaks – Wednesday, Oct. 16, 11 a.m. to noon. This session will provide resources and best practices for establishing inclusive workplaces for individuals on the Autism Spectrum. 
  • Windmills “New Perceptions in Disability” – Wednesday, Oct. 23, 11 a.m. to noon. This session will examine stereotypes and reveal participants’ emotional reactions to specific disabilities.
  • Accessibility Job Posting – Wednesday, Oct. 30, 11 a.m. to noon. The session will focus on making accessible job postings, writing disability-friendly job descriptions and developing accessible marketing materials.
