Tickets now are on sale for the Quad Cities International Airport’s new third nonstop daily Delta Air Lines flight to its Atlanta (ATL) global hub from the Moline (MLI) airport.

The inaugural QCIA-to-Atlanta hub addition will take off from the MLI airport at 11 a.m., Monday, April 20. It is the latest in a number of new additions to the regional airport’s menu of offerings.

This newest service addition also reflects Delta’s continued confidence in the Quad Cities market, and is in response to rising passenger demand, the QCIA said in a Monday, Jan. 5 news release.

Thanks to the soon-to-be three daily departures to Atlanta, travelers will benefit from improved schedule flexibility and expanded connectivity to Delta’s extensive domestic and international network, the release said.

“Additional frequencies are a meaningful way airlines demonstrate confidence in a market,” QCIA Executive Director Benjamin Leischner added.

“We’re grateful to Delta for their continued investment in the Quad Cities and for being a strong partner in bringing more air service to our region,” he said. “This added frequency gives our passengers more options and better access to Delta’s global reach.”

    Service adds to growth

QCIA said the newest flight also builds on MLI’s ongoing air service growth. That has included additional frequencies to Chicago by United Airlines and expanded service to Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth. In addition, QCIA saw new daily service to Charlotte by American Airlines, and seasonal service to Sarasota through Allegiant.

Together, these additions signal strong regional demand, QCIA said. It also reinforces QCIA’s role in connecting the region to key national and global destinations.

New routes and added frequencies are often years in the making, the release added. For example, discussions around increased Delta service began more than a year ago. That successful process underscores the long-term planning and collaboration required to grow air service sustainably, the release added.
